Mysuru: “To transform India into a nation that excels and secures more medals at the 2036 Olympics, we must commit to extensive training and development efforts to establish India as a formidable sports powerhouse,” asserted Trupti Murugunde, a distinguished recipient of the Dhyan Chand Award.

While inaugurating the prestigious 38th All India Postal Badminton Tournament held at the renowned Chamundi Vihar Sports Complex on Sunday, Murugunde strongly emphasized the critical need for increased support and investment within the Indian sports sector.

She remarked on the rarity of tournaments that gather participants from diverse age groups, highlighting that true success in sports is a challenging journey that requires dedication and resilience.

Drawing from her personal experiences, Murugunde articulated that the path to victory is paved with obstacles and that athletes must confront various challenges at every stage to fully appreciate the sweetness of triumph.

She also stressed the necessity of shifting the collective mindset within society regarding sports, urging parents to actively encourage their children to engage in sporting activities to foster a culture of athletic excellence.

Murugunde praised the postal network, noting it as an exceptional platform that connects and motivates the sports community across the nation.

The event was officially presided over by the Chief Postmaster General of Karnataka Circle and Principal Chairperson of the 38th All India Postal Badminton Tournament, S Rajendra Kumar, who acknowledged the postal department’s involvement in supporting the tournament.

Kumar also announced the parallel launch of the Women’s Bike Rally, aimed at promoting the Dhai Akhar, a national-level letter writing competition, which serves to inspire greater engagement within the community.

The letter writing competition is set to run until the second week of December, with Kumar inviting enthusiastic participants to submit their letters and join this exciting initiative.

He extended heartfelt best wishes to all the athletes competing from the 20 postal circles, highlighting the importance of their participation in fostering a competitive spirit.

The inauguration event was attended by key figures including Postmaster General of the North Karnataka Postal Region Colonel Sushil Kumar, Bengaluru Headquarters Region’s Postmaster General L K Dash, South Karnataka Postal Region’s Postmaster General Dr Chandra Sekhar Kakumanu, along with senior officials from the Department, marking a significant occasion for the Postal Badminton Tournament.
