The governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, presented this Thursday, October 10, a management report in the ten months he has led the administration of the department.
The president highlighted the achievements in security and progress in infrastructure works.
Among the security operations, the capture of alias ‘El Enano’, a criminal who kept the inhabitants of Amalfi, Antioquia, under threat, stood out.
Likewise, he highlighted how the authorities killed alias ‘Zeus’, leader of the Gulf Clan, along with eight of his men in an operation in San Francisco, Antioquia.
Public Order
The governor mentioned the dismantling of the El Mesa criminal gang, responsible for the massacre in Antioquia, which left seven people dead.
In an operation that involved the analysis of more than a thousand hours of recording, the authorities managed to capture those responsible.
Rendon also criticized the ceasefire promoted by the National Government, describing it as an “a slap to the citizens and an offense to our soldiers and police.”
Advances in infrastructure and fight against hunger
Regarding infrastructure, Rendón reported that his administration has allocated 31 billion pesos for the completion of 23 hospital projects that had been stalled for years.
In addition, he highlighted the 40% progress in the construction of the José María Córdova Airport road interchange, a project with a private investment of nearly 100 billion pesos.
On the other hand, he celebrated the commitment of 300 billion pesos to complete the section of the Toyo Tunnel, a key work for the connection between Antioquia and the road to the sea.

Rendón dedicated an important space of his speech to the fight against hunger, pointing out that the collection of the vehicle tax has been allocated almost entirely to this purpose.
These funds have allowed the distribution of food packages to the most vulnerable population, with special attention to children, women and the elderly.
The governor highlighted the alliance with the Ábaco Foundation, which has made it possible to rescue 162 tons of food, distributed through community kitchens and parishes.
Finally, he announced that starting October 20, 90,000 older adults will receive monthly food packages in 124 municipalities.
“This is an example of how powerful the alliances between the public and the private are. I will persist, Antioquians, in working to change the lives of our countrymen and in making this beautiful territory transform.”concluded the statement from the Governor of Antioquia.
