Transfers: Manchester United have reached an agreement with Erik Ten Hag (Ajax) reveals ESPN

Has the big departure from Amsterdam sounded soon for Erik Ten Hag? After five years on the Ajax bench, the 52-year-old Dutch technician has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United to succeed Ralph Rangnick next season, reveals Wednesday ESPN. The management of the current seventh in the Premier League would therefore have decided to bet on the ex-coach of Utrecht (2015-2017) rather than on Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique, whose names have recently circulated on the side of the north of England.

Erik Ten Hag is under contract until June 2023 with Ajax Amsterdam but Manchester United would not want to wait another season and would therefore be preparing to settle his departure clause estimated at 2 million euros. ESPN specifies that the difficulties encountered by Mauricio Pochettino this season with PSG would make the Red Devils doubt and that the financial conditions presented by the possible recruitment of Erik Ten Hag would be more affordable.

The Ajax Amsterdam technician would become the second Dutchman in history to take the reins of Manchester United following Louis Van Gaal (2014-2016). With the current Eredivisie leader, Erik Ten Hag achieved the feat of reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 following eliminating Real Madrid and Juventus Turin. During this epic, he participated in the emergence of talents like Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt or Donny Van de Beek. A player that Erik Ten Hag might well find following his six-month loan to Everton.

Why is Rangnick’s MU struggling so much?
