A strong network of new ambulances has been developed in 20 Health Centers of the 6th Health Region (HRE). Now the inhabitants of the remote areas find an ambulance in their place and there is no need to transport them in farm carts or other vehicles.
“It is a very big step that was taken with the assistance of the commander of the 66th Health Region, Yannis Karvelis, who realized from the first moment that he took over how crucial it was to have an ambulance in every Health Center. Thus, 20 Health Centers acquired this life-saving tool for the first time” he told us president of the Panhellenic Association of Ambulance Crews of Health Centers (SOPA-PEDY) Theodoros Rigopoulos, who works at the Erymanthos Health Center.
Their work is very important and helpful to EKAV. “When a citizen, who lives in a village of Erymanthia, needs an ambulance, he will not wait for a while, the EKAV from Patras will come, but he will be immediately transported by the ambulance of the Health Center of the area. We are in constant consultation and cooperation with EKAB in order to cover the incidents in the best possible way”.
This network also includes the city’s Health Centers. Already Northern Sector Health Center participates after the recent donation of the ambulance and will soon acquire a first aid unit with a donation and the South Sector Health Center (Zarouchleika). “Through the donation made the Agios Alexios Health Center we serve by transporting citizens wherever needed. In each shift we move 8-10 cases from the Health Center to the hospitals or their homes and vice versa without suffering the patients with waiting times. So you realize how important this network is, which is served at the level of the 6th Ministry of Defense by 150 rescuers,” notes Mr. Rigopoulos, adding:
