Transfer window: OM confirms Chancel Mbemba’s retention in the team

The president of OM -Olympique de Marseille-, Pablo Longoria, spoke about the case of Chancel Mbemba and other undesirables of the club, after their exclusion from the professional team.

During the presentation of some new Marseille recruits, Pablo Longoria made it known that OM does not plan to terminate the contracts of Chancel Mbemba, Samuel Gigot, and Jérémy Veretout. The club hopes to win something at the end of this summer transfer window.

“The strategy with them if they stay? When a club makes investments in players, terminating contracts… I don’t know any club in the world that terminates the contracts of its players. I don’t know if these are the intentions of our players’ entourages, but in an economic model, it makes no sense to think about this,” he said.

Pablo Longoria also said that if the players stay at the club, they will not play with the first team, but they will receive their rights as agreed.

“There is a work charter, there is a charter for professional players, so the club is respectful. Respectful of the rules and the players, because they have contracts with OM. It is also true that the players are perfectly aware of the situation. Those who do not fit into the technical plan, they will not be on the field. But respectful of the players’ rights,” he added.

It should be noted that the press revealed that Chancel Mbemba’s entourage was thinking about terminating the contract, so that the interested party could receive a juicy signing bonus. The 30-year-old defender, suspended after a heated argument with a manager, will therefore review his plans, he who was courted by Rennes or Nice in France, and by AC Milan in Italy.
