Transfer of second-hand vehicles continues to rise in Colombia

In August, automobiles accounted for 62,444 transfers (-0.5%), followed by utility vehicles with 23,760 units (3.1%), commercial cargo less than 10.5 tons with 6,629 vehicles (-2.8%), Pick Up with 6,239 (-4.9%) and taxis with 3,583 units (21.7%).

The The segment that grew the most during the month was commercial passengers with 1,477 and a variation of 44.0%. The behavior of the taxi segment is also noteworthy, which during the month showed a growth of 21.7% in transfers and 37.1% in registrations.

According to Oliverio García, president of Andemos, “the dynamics of transfers in August shows a relationship with the license plates of vehicles with zero kilometers of 4 used for 1 new. However, the vehicles that are being transferred are of average year 2004, that is, an average age of 18 years. Therefore, a public policy is necessary to improve the rotation of the vehicle fleet to reduce the average age of our fleet for the benefit of the environment and road safety.”

By cities, Bogotá registered 37,546 (0%) transfers, followed by Cali with 8,114 (-6%), Envigado with 6,769 (-2%), Medellín with 6,078 (7%) and Sabaneta with 3,048 (15%).
