Training report from Olympia: “Wants to be able to play blind”

When HIF trained on Friday morning, to sharpen the knives before Monday’s home meeting with Öster, the attacking game was in focus.
Two pieces trained for themselves: Chisom Chika Chidi and Adam Hellborg.

The new loan from GAIS, striker Chisom Chika Chidi, managed to score a goal in the League Cup match against Kalmar FF – before he injured his foot and was forced to retire at the end of the first half.
– A serious sprain. With a little tape and painkillers, it will still be possible to play football, said the newcomer from Skåne who, after some light passing exercises as a warm-up, “had fun” with technique exercises on small surfaces and a couple of liberating lung openers in the form of runs around the entire field five on the Olympic field.
Adam Hellborg has been ill and drove a much lighter session. He jogged a couple of laps around the field and the expression on his face… Well, it wasn’t a sugar-coated twelve-year-old with a free license to ride on Liseberg.

Strongest form 1:
Benjamin Örn won melees and duels and found creative solutions. Training products are the finest there is.

Strongest form 2:
Javelin thrower Hans Eklund.
So impressed the gentlemen who witnessed the training that the Olympics came up.
– You could qualify for the Olympics in Paris, said one of the old men.
– Torment!? I am Hans Eklund. I’m not going to die.
In the picture above, Dennis Olsson can be seen trying his hand at the same sport, with Eklund as world-accustomed supervisor.

The rest of the team focused in their drills on grinding out combinations and putting players like Silva Rasmussen in one-on-one situations on the edge to find balls into the box.
Klebér Saarenpää summarizes the training week in one of HIF’s best periods in several years.
– We have had a “normal” week. First emphasis on physics, then some rest and then focus on what comes this weekend. We need to improve our final third, make passes into the box and GET the position. Interaction and relationships are something we enjoy.
Rarely has the HIF squad had this kind of peace of mind. Can you perceive it shining through somehow?
– Well, in that case in our game model and in our work roles. There is greater calm there. Everyone knows which duties apply to all positions. A right back can play left wing and know exactly what would be required. There is security for the players to have the map drawn.
The next step then will be…?
– The next step is to get cooperation. That right back and outside click. That a nine and a ten click – so we can play blindly. Then everything becomes much easier.
Intuitive, then?
– Yes. At the beginning of the season, everything was more tentative. Now the next step is to raise the quality of it so everything goes faster. THAT is the next step.

Chika Chidi appears to be available for play on Monday.
– It looked pretty good before, we’ll see how the sprained foot reacts, there’s probably no major danger.
– Hellborg, on the other hand, is used to being ill and it may take as long as it takes. He has had incredible bad luck and bad timing with his setbacks. First of all, we don’t want to risk him getting sick again, so he’s taking it easy.

Öster is waiting on Monday. One of the top teams that HIF approached in the last five games.
– The basic thoughts for that match came as soon as we released the last one. At least that’s how it is for us in the management team – it’s not something we burden the playing squad with until later in the week. We met Öster quite recently and they haven’t changed anything after that, says Saarenpää.
