Training 2025: Applications start at the University Hospital Dresden

Looking for young professionals for 15 apprenticeships and six dual study programs. New to the program at our own vocational school is the profession of anesthesia assistant. Over 200 training positions are available – training to meet your own needs for skilled workers.

The application phase for the 2025 training cohort begins on October 1st at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden. There are over 200 training positions in 15 professions to choose from – there will be an innovation for training from next year in the profession of anesthesia assistant. In the future, the university hospital will also cover the theoretical part in the in-house Carus Academy. “With our training program, we focus on the specific needs in our company. It is our concern to recruit young professionals from within our own ranks. “We are also creating new offers within the company, such as the ATA training,” says Prof. Michael Albrecht, Medical Director at the University Hospital. A total of 578 trainees are currently learning at the clinic. The theory is taught at the Carus Academy and in partner institutions.

Nursing, assistance in anesthesia and in the operating room, laboratory analysis, functional diagnostics, administration – the range of professional areas for young people at the University Hospital Dresden is large. The application phase for 2025 now begins. In order to find out more, interested parties not only have access to a new career page but also a competent team in the Human Resources Directorate. The specialist colleagues answer questions, and employees who are already learning or have completed their training at the university hospital report on their experiences on the social media channels. The CareerStart trade fair in January is also another point of contact – this is where interested parties can talk to trainers, employees and trainees.

The content is also about the new offer – training to become an anesthesia assistant (ATA). “The job profile is a young medical assistant profession with increasing demand on the job market. We feel this very clearly and want to train here ourselves in theory and practice in the future,” says Birgit Banzhaf, head of the Carus Academy. Anesthesia assistants are trained for the specific and diverse tasks in the anesthesia service, in the outpatient clinic and in endoscopy. After successful completion, an anesthesia assistant has a wide range of professional skills that are necessary for caring for patients before, during and after anesthesia or anesthesia.

Trainees at the University Hospital are not only offered an interesting working environment with a provider of maximum medical care. The attractive working conditions and job opportunities also include a wide range of employment and further development opportunities, a company collective agreement and a variety of benefits such as the job ticket or membership in the Carus Vital health center. The trainees also get to know the practice early on. In parallel to the operations during ongoing operations, project weeks, workshops and action days are offered that show the variety of possible areas of application at the university hospital. For nursing trainees, the “Trainees take over a ward” project brings a lot of responsibility and self-confidence shortly before the final exams. In addition, the focus is on close integration with research in order to transfer new therapies and diagnostics into patient care.

“As one of the largest employers in the region, we take responsibility and are committed to the training and further education of young people. It is important to us to provide our trainees with an attractive professional environment and work on an equal footing with our colleagues in the individual teams to offer,” says Prof. Michael Albrecht, Medical Director of the University Hospital. “The shortage of skilled workers in patient care and in running such a large hospital also affects us. That’s why we can offer a lot of young people a job after completing their training at the university hospital,” adds Frank Ohi, Chief Commercial Officer.
