Tragic Truck Crash at Blue Agave Mexican Grill in Barling, Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — One person died and another four people were injured when a truck crashed through the exterior wall into a west Arkansas restaurant Wednesday followingnoon.

Heather White, 48, of Rogers died following a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck failed to stop in the parking lot and instead drove through the north wall of the Blue Agave Mexican Grill, a state police fatal crash report detailed.

Arkansas State Police told our content partner 40/29 News that four other people, ranging in age from 20 to 70, were injured with three of them being taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, 66-year-old Larry Stevens, was arrested following the crash and charged with driving while intoxicated, four counts of second-degree battery, and first-degree criminal mischief.

According to reports, Stevens crashed into the Barling restaurant around 4:30 p.m. where the five customers were seated for dinner.

Stevens is being held in the Sebastian County jail on a $50,000 bond. He is expected in court next week.

Blue Agave, located in Barling just east of Fort Smith, wrote on Facebook that members of their staff are safe and uninjured.

Our prayers are with our customers and their families, as we watched them leave in ambulances,” they said. “Please pray for the injured customers as we do. We are thankful for our safety, but our hearts are heavy.”

Blue Agave said they are unsure of a reopening date due to the damage caused by the crash.
