A terrible accident occurred today, Saturday, May 4th, 2024, which shocked the community of Gries am Brenner. A 79-year-old died in a tractor accident.

At around 7:20 a.m., a 79-year-old Austrian drove his tractor on a dirt road towards his agricultural property. But the routine trip was to take a tragic turn. “Since there was a pile of branches on the edge of the dirt road, he probably wanted to drive around this area and in doing so the right vehicle wheels went over the side of the path and fell over steep terrain,” explains the police.

“After regarding 30 meters he was thrown out of the motor cart, and the implement remained badly damaged following another 50 meters. Due to the noise of the crash, a nearby resident became aware and started the rescue chain. Despite resuscitation measures by the rescue workers, the victim died at the scene of the accident,” the police said.
