Tragic Suicide of Accused Childminder in Arlon Prison: Latest Updates

2024-01-01 12:25:00

This is a file that caused a lot of noise in the Arlon region. The affair, revealed last May by our colleagues at TV Lux, concerned a childminder from Arlon in his thirties. The man allegedly behaved inappropriately towards children. A mother of children of primary school age was frightened, at the time, to hear her two boys telling her regarding the “games” they had played with a man. “Games” of a sexual nature which would have taken place outside the professional context, during babysitting. The investigators judged the children’s hearing to be sufficiently credible to intercept the suspect leaving his workplace (Editor’s note: a school located in the Municipality of Arlon), on May 30.

Found dead in his cell

This Saturday evening, the Luxembourg Public Prosecutor’s Office informed us “that an Arlon resident in his thirties, in preventive detention for several months in the context of a morals case under investigation, committed suicide. The detainee was found dead this Saturday morning, December 30, in his cell in Arlon prison.” This is suicide by medication. The man had already made two attempts since his incarceration. The death of the latter results in the extinction of public action once morest him.

Also known in football circles, the man had, according to several testimonies, never aroused the slightest suspicion.
