A family in Britain was saddened by the sudden loss of their daughter months before her wedding, following she complained of stomach pain.

In detail, Kirsten Martin, 38, fell ill last month and died of sepsis on January 9.

Kirsten, from Penwortham, Lancashire, who was due to get married in November, first felt pain in her stomach in mid-December.

She was going regarding her business as usual, but her fiancé, Ant Johnson, became concerned when she did not show up for work one day.

A friend visited the house to check on her, and Kirsten was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where she spent the Christmas period receiving treatment.

But Kirsten was soon struggling to breathe, and was placed in an artificial coma, which is when a patient loses consciousness so profoundly that the doctor gives him a drug that causes him to completely lose consciousness and feelings, with paramedics saying she may not be able to survive the night.

Kirsten “overcame the odds”, but paramedics once more predicted on January 1 that she would likely not live more than 48 hours.

Kirsten’s body was unable to survive, which led to her death days later.
