Two people were killed and 28 wounded in a shooting mass in the early hours of this Sunday in the American city of Baltimoreauthorities reported. Police received multiple calls regarding a shooting in a street party shortly following midnight in a southern neighborhood of this city in the state of Maryland, in the eastern United States, local police chief Richard Worley said at a press conference.
An adult woman, whose name was not yet known, was found dead at the scene, nine victims were transported to nearby hospitals and all but one were released, the commissioner said, adding that 20 more injured were transferred to other hospitals in the area and three people were seriously injured. The other deceased victim was also an adult.
The United States has the highest rate of deaths from firearms, with a figure of 20,200 deaths in 2022, according to the Violence Archive organization. The problem is attributed to the free carrying of weapons protected by the national Constitution.
