Olivier Cools, a 32-year-old motorcyclist, lost his life last Friday in a road accident at Grote Steenweg in Geel (province of Antwerp). The accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. The victim died on the spot. The driver of the car was unhurt.

A few days following this tragedy, the victim’s mother launched a call for witnesses on social networks to find out more regarding the circumstances of the accident: “Who was there during my son’s fatal accident? I would so much like to speak with you,” she wrote.
“Separating from your child is not the normal order of things,” added Marleen, Olivier’s mother. “People who saw my son just before, or who were there at the time or following the accident, please contact me, I really want to talk to you.”
To our colleagues from Belang van Limburg, the mother of the young man from Tessenderlo, in Limburg, explained that she and her son called each other at least three times a day: “We told each other everything. We still can’t believe he’s no longer here.”

Oliver worked in Brussels and was popular with many people. His loved ones have received a lot of messages of support over the past few days: “He was like that: kind, generous and attentive. He was a fantastic son: a big teddy bear who was there for everyone.”
