According to the G1 news site, the plane was an EMB-110, a twin-engine turboprop manufactured by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. He would have departed from Manaus, the state capital, towards Barcelos, a flight of approximately 90 minutes. Located on the Rio Negro, a tributary of the Amazon, the city is bordered by several national parks. The UOL news site, citing State Security Secretary Vinicius Almeida, said the passengers were Brazilians who were traveling to the region to practice sport fishing.
