Dramatic incident in Austria: A jogger was bitten to death by a fighting dog near Linz.
As the police announced, the animal ran away from its owner on Monday in the 3,800-inhabitant community of Naarn – and attacked the running woman. She was so badly injured by the American Staffordshire Terrier that she died at the scene of the attack.

The Austrian newspaper „Krone“ reports that the woman was “literally mauled” by the dog. Accordingly, the attack happened in front of the owner’s house.
She tried to drag her dog away. The owner herself suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital. Further details are unclear – such as whether the dog was on a leash.
Report: Dog should be euthanized
The police did not provide any information regarding the age of the two women. Several media outlets reported that the victim was “between 20 and 40 years old.” An autopsy was therefore ordered.
The public service ORF Citing the local authorities, reports that the owner will be banned from keeping the fighting dog on Monday. She and another woman had several dogs in the house, it said. However, none of the animals have been negative so far.
The owner’s environment says that the dog will be put down.
