Tragic Incident: Elderly Sisters Found Burnt to Death in Shornur – Mysterious Circumstances Revealed

Shornur (Palakad)∙ Elderly sisters were found burnt to death inside their house under mysterious circumstances. Padmini (72) and Thangam (70) died in the Ambalathodi house on Neelamalakunn, Shornur Thrangali Road. Initial information is that the death was due to gas explosion.

The incident took place on Thursday followingnoon at 2.30 pm. Padmini and Thanga live alone in adjacent houses. Thangam reached here following hearing a noise from Padmini’s house in the followingnoon. Neighbors also came running following hearing the commotion. Meanwhile, a man named Manikandan pushed open the door of their house and ran out. His body was covered with blood.

Then the locals detained Manikandan and handed him over to the police. Manikandan’s statement is that when he looked through the window, he saw fire and smoke coming and when he went inside the house, one of the victims was caught. Manikandan is in police custody.

Padmini’s body is more than half burnt. Both bodies also have injuries. It is also reported that there is a case once morest Manikandan for torturing a woman. Palakkad SP R. Anand, Ottapalam ASP Yogesh Mandaviya, Shornur DySP PC Haridasan, Palakkad Special Branch DySP Praveen etc. reached the spot.
