On the morning of this Monday, September 25, a patient who remained hospitalized at the Boyacá Clinic in Duitama, fell into the void and lost his life, with no clarity as to what happened.

In an interview for Caracol Radio, Ana María Parra, Secretary of Health of Duitama, provided the first details about the emergency.

“A person, an adult over 71 years of age, falls from the fourth floor of the Clinic facilities suffering serious injuries (…) he is immediately treated by rescue organizations and assistance personnel from the same Clinic and unfortunately dies at around 11 o’clock. in the morning,” he said.

He explained that this is a preliminary report delivered to the health authority and that the investigation of the case is currently progressing.

“That is the report that the Boyacá clinic gives me, at this moment we from the Ministry of Health are reviewing all the protocols that have been established for the safety of the patient, or the people who enter the Institution, the police forces and the CTI are in charge of carrying out the entire process corresponding to the clinical autopsy in order to clarify the facts that were presented at the medical institution,” he explained.

The official confirmed that the person who died was receiving medical attention at the healthcare center.

“According to official information, the Clinic’s directives inform me that it is a patient who had a diagnosis of a pathology totally different from any mental pathology and presents the event,” he indicated.

He reiterated that the secretariat is attentive to the evolution of the investigations and once they obtain additional information about the emergency, it will be communicated.
