PHOENIX, Arizona. – An Oregon nurse was overcome by intense Phoenix heat as she hiked the trails at Deem Hills Recreation Area.
Jessica Christine Lindstrom, 34, was visiting relatives in the city when on Friday, August 4, she decided to go on an excursion.
The young woman was last seen around 8:30 am preparing for her drive in the area of North 51st Drive and West Deem Hills Parkway.
After 9 hours without news of his whereregardings, the Fire Department began an exhaustive search in the area with drones and technical rescue teams.
After 5 hours of searching the area, Lindstrom’s body was located by rescuers at night on a remote trail on the north side of Deem Hills.
Now the Maricopa County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death, but evidence suggests it might be heat related.
Only last Friday a maximum of 115 degrees was registered in Phoenix; while in the morning the minimum was above average with 87 degrees.
In addition, Maricopa County was under a new excessive heat alert, which remained active until Monday, August 7.

Due to his condition, a helicopter was required to carry out the rescue operation and take the patient to an ambulance that was waiting in a nearby park to transfer him to the hospital.

Fortunately the young man was treated on time; Although his state of health is unknown. All the firefighters who participated in the rescue are undergoing a rehabilitation and rehydration process before returning to duty.
