A fire broke out this Sunday in a home, rue de la Vacherie in Auvelais (Sambreville). Called around 1:15 p.m., emergency services found a deceased person inside the home. Another person, who jumped from the first floor, was seriously injured. “His days are endangered“, indicates Marc Gilbert, the commander of the Val de Sambre emergency zone.
The exact circumstances of the fire have yet to be determined.
Claude, a neighbor, describes to us what he observed: “I saw people on the sidewalk opposite. From there, we went out and I saw flames coming out everywhere. There was a person who jumped out of the first floor window. There is, I suppose, a lady of a certain age who stayed inside. We heard screaming and saw nothing more. The flames… incredible speed. For the whole neighborhood here, it was quite impressive“.
