The Jumet firefighters were called to intervene for a fire in a home at Place Maugy in Roux (Charleroi) this Friday evening at 11:56 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the flames had already reached the roof and the first floor of the house.
A woman who was on the ground floor was saved by firefighters and taken care of by medical services. She was taken to hospital. She reported when she was picked up that her husband was still on the first floor.
A tank and a large ladder are called in as reinforcements. After 45 minutes of fighting, the fire was finally brought under control. Firefighters began searching the first floor, without success. They eventually discover a man’s body in the attic.
The origin of this fire is not known at this time.
