The body of a young 19-year-old from Louvain, who fell into the canal (Leuvense Vaart) on Tuesday morning, was found in the same area, the Louvain public prosecutor’s office (Flemish Brabant) confirmed on Saturday. The body was seen shortly following 8 a.m. by passers-by.
Since the disappearance of the young man, the Louvain police and the Missing Persons Unit have been actively searching for the body, with the help of divers, boats and helicopters.
A forensic pathologist was dispatched to the scene.
