A dramatic accident occurred this Monday around 10 a.m. on the N7 (Chaussée de Tournai), near the Festu bridge, in Pipaix
In circumstances that the investigation will have to determine, two vehicles collided “almost head-on” at the bottom of the bridge towards Leuze-en-Hainaut.
Under the force of the impact, one of the vehicles, a small city car, was thrown once morest the concrete guardrail.
Its driver, aged around fifty, was killed instantly. The emergency services were unfortunately only able to note his death. The driver in the other vehicle escaped unhurt.
Significant resources were sent to the site from the Leuze-en-Hainaut and Blaton aid stations: two extrication vehicles, two ambulances, a marking vehicle and a command vehicle.
The local Leuze police carried out the usual findings.
Traffic was interrupted and diverted on either side of the bridge, via the villages of Pipaix, Barry and Maulde.
The prosecution has been notified.
