This Sunday, around 5:40 p.m., the emergency services and the police intervened at number 20 rue de Forêt in Marchienne-au-Pont (Charleroi). On site, on the ground floor, the father was discovered bleeding. The latter directly warned the police and emergency services of the possible presence of two dead bodies in the attic. At the location cited, the 50-year-old mother and 17-year-old younger brother were discovered in a room filled with blood. “It seems that the suspect attacked these two victims with a knife,” confirmed the Charleroi prosecutor’s office on Monday during a press conference.
He killed his mother and brother, seriously injured his father
Alexandre, 22, used an alarm gun to shoot his father and push him down the stairs. The son, on the run just following the events, was finally discovered later in Brussels thanks to telephone and bank tracing deployed by the judicial authorities when he intended to take a train to reach France.
This late Monday evening, Alexandre was charged and placed under arrest warrant. “He is charged with matricide, attempted parricide and homicide of his brother,” said prosecutor Di Vincenzo late Tuesday morning.
The motive remains “fuzzy”: an ordered mental expertise
The motive for the facts remains, according to the prosecution, “fuzzy” while Alexandre mentioned “personal and family concerns”.
A mental assessment of the accused was ordered by the investigating judge. If normally this duty of investigation is classic, here the prosecution refused to go into details. As a reminder, the student seemed “normal” and was even very popular with the neighbors of the family home.
