A celebration with friends ended in tragedy for the renowned Brazilian actor Thommy Schiavo, who died at the age of 39 after falling from a balcony in the early hours of Saturday, July 20.

Schiavo, remembered for playing ‘Zoinho’ in the telenovela ‘Pantanal’, fell from a height of four meters after losing his balance while trying to enter his residence in the Bosque da Saúde neighborhood of the Brazilian city of Cuiabá, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso.

Security camera videos captured the moment of the tragic accident in a two-story apartment building. The Special Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP) of Cuiabá reported that the actor was found “without external injuries, lying on the lower floor, approximately four meters from the floor where he lived.”

“The building’s cameras were reviewed by the police, and the images showed the dynamics of the moment when the victim is seen sitting on the upper floor. Then, he lies on the ground for a few minutes, and when he gets up, he loses his balance and his body tilts over the railing, causing him to fall,” reads the authorities’ note, published by the newspaper ‘O Globo’.
Witnesses to the accident told the police that Thommy Schiavo had been drinking at a bar near his residence, so it is not ruled out that the effects of alcohol caused the Brazilian to lose his balance. However, this has yet to be confirmed by authorities.

The actor was married to makeup artist Angra Monaliza, whom he met during the filming of the telenovela ‘Pantanal’, and he leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.
