John Fredy Nieto, Toledo Police inspector, said that these deaths occurred in isolation.

A photo that circulated through WhatsApp chains among the inhabitants of the municipality of Toledo, North Antioquia, ended up causing the death of two minors, ages 13 and 14.

Both deaths occurred one day apart.

It all started at the end of last week, according to sources in the case, when the 14-year-old teenager would have shared a private photo with her boyfriend on her cell phone.

Accidentally, the image also appeared in the chat of one of her fellow students, who would have circulated it in various WhatsApp chats that spread throughout the town.

This photograph spread like foam and reached the mother of the adolescent who had taken it, who drastically sanctioned the minor. In the midst of the social signaling, the 14-year-old girl ended her life in the Barrancas village, on the morning of this Monday.

The tragedy due to the viralized image continued and this Tuesday a second dead minor appeared, a 13-year-old teenager, in the village of La Cascarera, who also attacked her integrity.

It is being investigated whether it would be related to the distribution of this photo on networks.

John Fredy Nieto, Toledo Police inspector, said that these deaths occurred in isolation and that investigations are advancing in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office to clarify everything that surrounds them and their direct relationship.

The Toledo authorities regretted the death of these two minors due to the emotional damage and the exposure of intimate issues, the product of the viralization of a photograph through social networks.
