A two-year-old girl lost her life mid-week in the town of Wasseiges, in the province of Liège. And as revealed our colleagues from the Vers l’Avenir group, this death appears suspicious. The girl’s stepfather is wanted to be heard.
The tragedy occurred in the village of Meeffe, on the border between the provinces of Liège and Namur. Emergency services were called on Tuesday for a two-year-old girl who was in sufficiently serious condition that she had to be airlifted to a hospital. It was there that she died the next day from her injuries.
Injuries that call into question Justice. It communicates very little on the case, but confirms the opening of an investigation: ” An investigating judge has been contacted as we consider this death to be suspicious. At this stage, I will not say more because the investigating judge does not want us to communicate “, confirms Catherine Collignon, first substitute for the Liège public prosecutor’s office.
The victim’s stepfather is currently being sought to be interviewed by investigators. He would be suspected of having beaten the little girl. Suspected, and therefore presumed innocent. The mother’s hearing will also be crucial to clarifying the matter.
The family had recently been living in one of the few social housing units in the town of Wasseiges. According to our information, it was not known to be a source of problems.
An autopsy was carried out this Thursday. The prosecution is currently refusing to communicate the results.
