-An unexpected death brings mourning to the municipality of Honda, in Tolima, Colombia, following the tragic death of an eight-year-old girl, who lost her life following undergoing what seemed like a “simple tooth extraction” in the dental office of Dr. José Manuel Herrera.
The unfortunate event occurred last Friday followingnoon at the office located in Alto del Rosario, when little Salomé Bohórquez was taken by her relatives to undergo dental intervention. However, what should have been a routine procedure turned into a nightmare for the family.
According to the girl’s relatives, during the extraction of the tooth, Salomé suffered an unexpected hemorrhage that put the dentist and his team on alert. Despite the efforts made in the office, the seriousness of the situation warranted the urgent transfer of the minor to the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Honda.
At the health center, the doctors did their best to stabilize the girl and stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, however, their efforts might not prevent the tragedy. It is presumed that the girl ingested blood during the procedure, which might have caused her to suffocate and her subsequent death.

The case has deeply moved the local community, who expressed their condolences and solidarity towards the family of little Salomé on social networks. In turn, the health professional and his team also received messages of support in this difficult situation.
The news of the unexpected death of the third grade student has shocked everyone, and they are awaiting the results of the autopsy, which will determine the exact causes of the minor’s death.
In the midst of this sad situation, the Alfonso Palacio Rudas school, where Salomé studied, has organized a telethon to raise funds for the girl’s funeral, in a gesture of solidarity and support for the family in their grief.
