British actor Julian Sands, who has been missing since mid-January following a mountain hike in the US state of California, is dead. Local police said on Tuesday that the human remains found by hikers on Mount San Antonio were identified over the weekend. Known for his role in “A Room With a View,” Sands was an experienced mountain hiker who crossed the Andes in the 1990s. He was 65 years old.

Also known as Mount Baldy, Mount San Antonio is the highest peak in the San Gabriel range and a popular hiking destination near Los Angeles, California. Bad weather at the beginning of the year meant that conditions were difficult there. The actor’s brother said two weeks following the search began that he accepted that Sands would not be found alive.
