According to a statement from the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office obtained by The Epoch Times on Thursday, Angie Zhao died at a private ranch in the county.

“On February 10, the County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible water rescue incident at a private ranch located within Blanco County boundaries,” a police statement said. “Upon arrival, Blanco County Police deputies contacted Blanco County EMS The center (EMS) and the fire department together recovered the body of Anji Zhao from the pond in the ranch.

The Foremost Group is headquartered in New York and was founded by Anji Zhao’s father, Zhao Xicheng. Angie Chao is the youngest of the six daughters of the Zhao family and the sister of former U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao. Senate Minority Leader McConnell is Angie Zhao’s brother-in-law.

Angie Zhao’s husband, James Breyer, is an American venture capitalist and the founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a company headquartered in Austin. Breyer is also a minority owner of the Boston Celtics, according to the Breyer Capital website.

Anji Zhao joined Foremost in 1996 and has taken over the leadership of the company since 2018. She was only 50 years old when she died.
