Perumbailao ∙ Relatives filed a complaint of domestic violence in the incident of suicide of a young woman in Kallumpura. Zainul Abid’s wife Sabina (25) was found dead in the kitchen on the morning of 25th of this month. Sabina and her six and two-year-old children were the only ones in the house. Husband is abroad.

The family members say that just before her death, Sabina called her mother and told her that her husband was mentally torturing her and was ending her life. After tightening the noose around his neck, he took a selfie and sent it to his mother. The mother, who lives in Kozikara in Malappuram district, called an auto-rickshaw and reached Kallumpura, but Sabina might not be saved.

Sabina and Zainul Abid got married 8 years ago. Salim, the father of Sabina, said that her daughter had endured the torture of her husband and family members for the last 7 years. Mahal had approached the committees and relatives demanding that the problems be resolved. The father said that his daughter was allowed to continue living in that house on the basis that some of her relatives had assured her that there would be no more problems.

On the morning of her death, Sabina had finished her household chores and sent her elder son to the madrassa. Salim says that it was her husband’s phone call that led to her daughter’s death.
