Tragic Climbing Accident in Elbrus: Tourist from Krasnodar Falls to Death at 5000m Altitude

A tourist from Krasnodar died in the early morning of August 27 while climbing Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria.

– At 08.00, information was received that on Mount Elbrus, a tourist from Krasnodar fell off the mountain at an altitude of 5000 m and received injuries incompatible with life. The man was part of a group of 14 people, – said in the message of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

It is specified that at 12.30 the rescuers evacuated the body of the Krasnodar citizen by helicopter to the village of Terskol, where they handed it over to law enforcement officers. The causes and circumstances of the incident are established.

Psychologists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia work with the relatives of the deceased.

Recall that a tourist from the Krasnodar Territory – a 39-year-old man – while climbing Mount Archimedes near Nalchik in Kabardino-Balkaria on July 30, fell off a rocky area and was injured. The search operation, in which employees of the Elbrus Alpine PSO took part, lasted regarding six hours. The victim was evacuated by helicopter from a height of 3800 meters. He was handed over to the doctors.
