[파이낸셜뉴스] Two campers were killed in a bear attack that suddenly appeared in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
It is reported that they died following leaving three words, ‘Bear attack bad’, in a cell phone message before being attacked.
According to the British Guardian on the 5th (local time), at around 8 p.m. on the 29th of last month, Parks Canada received a location information system (GPS) alert indicating a bear attack near the Red Deer River.
The Park Service dispatched a response team as soon as it was confirmed, but was unable to stop the attack because helicopters might not be used due to bad weather and people moved on foot.
The response team eventually arrived on the scene around midnight and found two campers and a dog dead. Nearby was a broken tent and at least one empty can of bear repellent spray.
The two campers who died were identified as Doug Inglis (62) and Jenny Gers (62). It was discovered that the two people, who usually enjoy outdoor activities, came here to camp for a week.
On the same day, Colin Inglis, Doug’s uncle, said in an interview with the media that on the evening of the incident, he received a notification from a satellite operator that SOS had been activated.
The company that received the message warning of danger from Doug forwarded it to his family, Colin. Doug’s final message contained just three words: “Bear attacks are bad.”
Afterwards, the Park Service announced that while searching near the area where the body was found, they found a charging grizzly bear and immediately killed it.
