A young cyclist lost her life on Tuesday followingnoon following being knocked down on the Steenweg op Zevendonk in Turnhout (province of Antwerp), near the exit of the E34 motorway, local police announced. The victim was barely 18 years old.
She was traveling on the lane reserved for bicycles when a car coming out of the E34, coming from the Netherlands, mowed her down. The motorist, who wanted to head towards the center of Turnhout, probably noticed the young woman too late.
