On Thursday morning, shortly following 10 a.m., there was a tragic accident at work on a construction site in Feusisberg. Two men suffered fatal injuries, a worker was buried under the building masses and has been missing ever since. The Schwyz police reported this on Thursday followingnoon.
For safety reasons, the recovery of the two fatally injured will take some time. “The excavation must first be stabilized,” as Michael Marty from the Schwyz cantonal police explained in the followingnoon when asked. More material in the excavation pit is still in danger of collapsing.
As a result, the actual salvage work might only take place shortly following 7 p.m. as PilatusToday reported. As the on-call officer of the Schwyz canton police, Michael Marty, said at 8.30 p.m., the first person might be found dead in the meantime. “We are working on recovering the second person and have clues as to where the third person is,” he said when asked.
With the twilight, the challenge for the emergency services becomes greater. «We want to be finished with the salvage work when it gets dark. Many emergency services have already been in action for several hours. »
As is now known, the men carried out preparatory work for a building. It was regarding earth movements. For reasons that are still unknown, the construction pit collapsed and buried the men. The rubble was a mixture of a concrete wall and soil.
According to the Schwyz police, the victims were employees of a construction company.
Several rescue services and fire brigades, the Swiss accident insurance company Suva, the Care Team and the labor inspectorate of the canton of Schwyz, Suva, building experts, the cantonal police of Schwyz and the public prosecutor of the canton of Schwyz are on duty. (zim/red.)
