On Monday followingnoon, in the Posthoornstraat in Machelen (Zulte), a driver’s car collided with the corner facade of a bank branch. The driver, an 81-year-old man from Zulte, probably fell ill at the wheel of his car and left the road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the man, to no avail. Deinze firefighters set up a tent by the side of the road to protect the victim from view during resuscitation attempts.
