London: Reportedly, 55 soldiers died in the accident in China’s nuclear submarine. The foreign media have reported this by referring to the report prepared by the UK intelligence agencies regarding the accident that happened a few months ago. Reports suggest that the accident was caused by a serious malfunction in the submarine’s oxygen system.

The incident took place in China’s PLA Navy Submarine 093-417. According to the report released by the Daily Mail, the captain, Colonel Su Yong Peng and 21 officers were killed. According to intelligence information, the accident took place on August 21. It is estimated that 22 officers, seven officer cadets, nine petty officers and 17 sailors died. According to the report, they died of suffocation due to failure of the oxygen system.

The submarine’s oxygen system malfunctioned following it collided in the deep sea with an anchor-like system used by China to detect foreign submarines.
