Yesterday afternoon, Friday, August 2, the death of the 72-year-old Nigerian singer and actress came to light after she collapsed on stage while singing at the birthday party of Stella Okoli, owner of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Onwenu collapsed in front of all the attendees; despite emergency services being called to assist her, the singer and actress passed away at Victoria Island Hospital, according to information from the media outlet The Guardian.

One of the photographers present at the scene shared some photographs from Onyeka Onwenu’s last performance, just minutes before she collapsed in front of everyone.
“Who would have imagined that she would be gone after I took these pictures of her last night? She sang beautifully, was funny, and made everyone very happy with her performance. I was thinking I would see that photo when I tagged her after the event. Rest in Peace, Legend Onyeka Onwenu,” posted Kelex Ofoedu.
