A tragedy occurred yesterday Wednesday around 8 a.m. in Frameries, in the province of Hainaut. A woman was killed following being hit by a car. The author of the facts would be his companion. He would have acted voluntarily. “In the current state of things, the first elements of the investigation point to the fact that the suspect went to the scene and deliberately hit the victim with his vehicle”indicates Damien Verheyen, deputy public prosecutor of Mons.
The man was heard by an examining magistrate this Thursday at the end of the morning. He says “don’t remember the facts, he says he has a black hole”, informs Damien Verheyen. The man was charged with murder and placed under arrest warrant. Arrest warrant which should be confirmed by the Council Chamber within five days. The motive, however, remains unclear for now. Investigation duties will be carried out in the coming days or weeks. “They’ll probably let you know a bit more.”
“You should know that the facts were filmed by the urban video surveillance network. As part of the investigation, the investigators of the federal judicial police will analyze these video surveillance tapes in order to be able to determine precisely how the events happened”continues the deputy public prosecutor.
The accused is 59 years old and lives in Beloeil. He has no criminal record. “The first elements of the investigation point to the fact that the parties had a love affair which ended in the preceding weeks. But once more, the various hearings and testimonies will make it possible to know in what circumstances this breakup took place and if indeed, it is this rupture which caused the facts of Wednesday.
The suspect remained at the scene and was therefore quickly apprehended by the police. The prosecution was immediately notified and put the file to the instruction.
According to our information, the victim filed a harassment complaint a few weeks before the incident. But this complaint had not yet reached the prosecution.
