The musician Traful Berbel announced today that resigned his candidacy for first deputy provincial for UNE for the April 16 elections for considering the “difficulties involved in making party activity compatible with his artistic career.” It was the first time that he was going to contest an elective position and, precisely, on Monday he had talked about it on RÍO NEGRO RADIO, in a interview in which he questioned that the artists from Neuquén are not on the main stage of the Fiesta de la Confluencia.
The statement released today by the space, which will be the collector of the MPN in the governor’s formula, indicated that, beyond its decision “it will continue to accompany UNE in the campaign and support the candidates defined by the party.”
«My decision is absolutely personal and has to do with the need to continue strengthening my artistic career. In the last few weeks, I understood that both activities demand a difficult effort from me to sustain in this stage. I think it will be better to start by integrating a legislative team and, in any case, later access a position, “he said.
The musician had said on Monday in an interview with BLACK RIVER RADIO that he had decided to participate in politics and hand in hand with the party because “the defense of the river coasts is proposed, free access to land for our countrymen.”
He had also anticipated some legislative proposals to promote a greater participation of local artists in popular festivals. «Today we have the clear example of the Confluence Festival where Neuquén artists are not on the main stage»he had criticized and justified that being within the UNE allowed him to “say this is fine, but this is not.”
The reasons for the resignation
Party sources acknowledged that these statements generated a debate and that this discussion “helped him decide that politics required more learning time.”
The UNE will meet this Saturday at its convention to define the new candidate and present the complete list that will participate in the elections on April 16, accompanying the formula of Marcos Koopmann and Ana Pechen.
The names that sound today are those associated with the management of Mariano Gaido in the mayor’s office: Fernando Schpoliansky (Finance), Francis Baggio (Citizen Protection) and Alejandra Oehrens (Women).
