On Friday evening, the cantonal police in Bern checked 632 people. In doing so, she was able to end searches, file charges and secure narcotics and a weapon.
The cantonal police in Bern carried out checks at 43 places on Friday evening. In the Mittelland-Emmental-Oberaargau and in the Bern region, she stopped 632 drivers in 381 vehicles. In addition, the emergency services checked train passengers who were on the Bern-Solothurn, Bern-Olten, Bern-Biel and Bern-Interlaken routes. The aim of the cantonal police was to check the drivers for their ability to drive and to search for persons who had been issued a police permit.
Five people were found and reported, for whom the police had already been looking. A further 26 detainees were reported. Four drivers among them were drunk at the wheel, four others were under the influence of drugs. In addition, four people were reported because they had disobeyed the road traffic law. The emergency services issued 27 fines.
Narcotics, a gun and 93 fare evaders
During the checks, the police officers were not only able to secure narcotics, but also a weapon. Twelve people were charged with violating the Narcotics Act. The ticket checks on the trains revealed that 93 passengers did not have a valid ticket.
The cantonal police in Bern plan to continue to carry out regular traffic checks and preventive actions. This is how she wants to ensure road safety.
