Tourists and locals have been clogging up the federal and state roads and some mini-secret paths in the Salzach Valley for days. The blame is (as always) placed on the politicians, although they are not to blame for the fact that excessively used motorways need to be renovated following decades. Something like this doesn’t happen overnight, which is why the capacity of the motorway has to be limited during the construction period, with the result that the towns in the Salzach Valley are choked with traffic.
What climate adhesives can’t do, reckless drivers can do, and no one is upset that fire departments can’t reach their destination during a storm because of the constant traffic jams. Something would be achieved if drivers stayed on the motorway when there was a traffic jam and didn’t ignore everything that was there to direct traffic when they swerved. Just a small selection observed within just an hour:
Fast through the red light at full throttle (of course not just one). The yellow light only applies to cowards. And when everything stops, definitely drive into the intersection (observed en masse) so that nothing happens.
The “dead end” sign – never seen it before. The sign “walking and cycling path” – if the navigation system says: “drive”, then that doesn’t exist. Bridges on sidewalks and cycle paths are of course also there for drivers.
This is the type of driver who then continues on the ski slope and has to be “rescued” from there.
Politicians may have omissions in traffic control, but the constant traffic jams are not caused by politicians, but by absolutely inconsiderate and selfish drivers, tourists who believe in navigation systems, but also inconsiderate locals.
