Traffic diversions reported in Havana due to works on the Fifth Avenue tunnel

In the coming days, maintenance will be carried out on the Quinta Avenida tunnel, according to Cuban Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila.

Although some preliminary details have been provided, it is anticipated that these works will not be as complex as those previously carried out on the Havana Bay tunnel.

The Provincial Commission for Road Safety in Havana has issued a statement to inform citizens, especially drivers, about the organizational measures that will be implemented to ensure safe mobility during the maintenance.

From August 14 to August 21, the section from Playa to Plaza will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Subsequently, from August 23 to 31, the section from Plaza to Playa will be closed at the same time.

Traffic detours

To facilitate traffic, drivers traveling from Playa to Plaza are advised to use 41st, 31st, and 7th Avenues until reaching Línea. On the other hand, for those who need to go from Plaza to Playa, it is recommended to travel on Línea, 23rd, 31st, and 41st Streets.

It should be noted that the pedestrian crossing through the Fifth Avenue tunnel will remain operational as long as it is not affected by the works.

The Provincial Road Safety Commission apologizes for any inconvenience that these measures may cause and urges users to follow the established instructions and to pay attention to the directions of traffic officers in order to prevent accidents.
