Traffic conditions in Lithuania are complicated by snow and ice

As reported, the traffic conditions are more difficult in Western Lithuania and Rokiškis district, where traffic conditions are complicated by snow. Road surfaces of national importance are rutted, slippery, covered with a layer of compacted or loose snow, which sometimes reaches up to 10 cm. Traffic conditions in the districts of Mažeikiai, Biržai, Vilkaviškis, and Šakiai are also complicated due to the blizzard.

Road maintenance mechanisms are in operation on the roads, but drivers are asked to take into account the condition of the road surface and choose a safe speed rather than the maximum permissible speed and keep a greater than normal safe distance.

Main road surfaces in Lithuania are dry and wet. There are rutted road sections of regional importance in several places.

The surfaces of the main roads of lower intensity are damp, wet, in some places covered with fallen snow or a layer of compacted snow, which in some places reaches up to 10 cm, formed ruts.

The lowest air temperature is from 4 to 7 degrees of frost.

According to the hydrometeorological service, it will snow in places during the day, mainly in Northern and Eastern Lithuania. Wind southeast, east, 5-10 m/s. Air temperature – 3-8 degrees of frost.
