Brisk excursion traffic yesterday led to chaotic conditions around the Feuerkogel (Upper Austria). In the Langbathsee area, 114 cars were parked illegally, the state police in Upper Austria said. The engine of one of the cars was still running. As a result, drivers even disregarded an official closure of the L1297 from the Feuerkogel cable car, it said.
First, a police officer had to enforce the block there, then from the intersection with the main road, because chaotic conditions had arisen from the center of Ebensee to the Feuerkogel cable car. The lockdown lasted from 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The attempt to issue speeding tickets to cars that were not allowed to stop or park also proved to be “futile”. Instead, the officials took photographs of the illegally parked vehicles in order to then report them to the Gmunden district authority.
