Traffic at Paris airports continued to recover in July, that of Orly, specializing in short and medium-haul as well as overseas, even exceeding that of July 2019, their manager announced on Wednesday.
Some 9.8 million passengers passed through the airport platforms of Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) and Orly in July, which recorded an increase in their attendance of 7.5% over one year, said Groupe ADP in a statement.
Traffic stood at 92.8% of its July 2019 level, before the Covid-19 pandemic caused the air sector to plunge.
With 3.2 million people, the number of passengers to or from Orly reached 103.1% of its 2019 level in July. For Roissy-Charles De Gaulle, the proportion was 88.5%, with 6.6 million passengers.
While traffic departing from Paris airports to countries in the Schengen area or overseas has returned to its July 2019 level, traffic to France is down 8.8% over one year and down 26.1% compared to 2019.
On long-haul destinations, traffic to Africa exceeded its level of three years ago (111.7%), while that to Asia-Pacific, which took longer to recover, is only 73.2% of its July 2019 level.
The ADP group manages directly or through participations some thirty airport platforms around the world, from New Delhi to Santiago de Chile via Amman. On this scope, traffic reached 98.6% of its 2019 level, driven by Indian airports.
