NORTH SALEM, NY — If you’re planning to take advantage of a break in the rainy weather to do a little apple picking and check out the fall colors, maybe consider taking the scenic way home.
A lane reduction along I-684 in North Salem is planned on Saturday for bridge repairs.
The New York State Department of Transportation said that Interstate 684 southbound will be reduced to one lane between Exit 6 (State Route 35) and Exit 4 (State Route 172) in North Salem.

The bridge repairs are expected to take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., weather permitting.
The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone might result in the suspension of your driver’s license.
