In control operations in Chambacú, an agent of the operational body of the Administrative Department of Traffic and Transportation, DATT, was run over by a motorcyclist when made the stop sign at the checkpointcausing a open wound to the head and blows to various parts of the body.
The transit agent received first aid at the site by a paramedic body, and later transferred to a city clinic, where he receives medical attention, as does the companion carried by the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was fleeing, but the vehicle turned off regarding 100 meters from the incident, which facilitated his capture, immobilization of the vehicle and the imposition of 3 subpoenas: one for not obeying the traffic agent’s order, traveling along Pedro de Heredia Avenue with a companion without registering on the platform set up for that purpose, and another for not having a driving license.
So far in the year 2022, there have been regarding 15 physical attacks on traffic agentswhile they fulfill their duty to supervise that drivers carry the documents required by law to drive a vehicle, as well as that the provisions of the Mayor’s Office that regulate mobility are also complied with.
Traffic agents are public servants, and attacking their physical integrity has criminal consequences contemplated in the Penal Code, article 429: “whoever exercises violence once morest a public servant, by reason of his functions, or to force him to execute or omit any act of his office, or to carry out one contrary to his official duties, will incur in prison from 4 to 8 years.
