Traffic accidents: 20 dead and more than 2,000 injured in one week

Twenty people died and 2,244 others were injured, including 76 in serious condition, following 1,577 traffic accidents that occurred in the urban perimeter during the week from August 8 to 14. According to the DGSN, these accidents are successively due, among other things, to driver inadvertence, failure to respect the right of way, excessive speed, non-vigilance of pedestrians, failure to respect the distance safety, changing direction without using the turn signal, lack of vehicle control, etc.

In total, the security services established 47,663 fines and drew up 6,532 reports sent to the prosecution, underlines the DGSN which also reports the recovery of 41,131 transactional fines. These fines brought in 8.9 million DH. In addition, 5,196 vehicles were impounded, while 6,532 documents were seized and 290 withdrawn from circulation.
