There was a traffic accident on the A1 motorway in the municipality of Bertschikon in the direction of St. Gallen, which involved four vehicles.
The accident occurred loudly the Zurich cantonal police on Thursday shortly before twelve o’clock. A total of five people were affected by the accident. Four people were slightly to moderately injured and one woman suffered serious injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is still being determined. At the time of the accident there was a lot in the region heavy snowfall ruled. The A1 motorway had to be closed in the direction of St. Gallen until around 4 p.m. This resulted in a long traffic jam. According to initial estimates, the damage to the cars involved and to the road infrastructure amounts to several tens of thousands of francs.
As BRK News reports, the backlog was 14 kilometers long. Since all entrances also had to be closed, this led to very high utilization of regional road traffic, according to the Zurich Cantonal Police.
